Sex-cess: Focusing Your Sexual Energy toward Achieving Your Goals

Sexual energy pervades our daily lives. Men seem to think about sex more frequently than women, but we all feel sexual energy on a daily basis. After all, this is the very energy which created us. Without it, we wouldn’t exist.

We can think of sexual energy as a pure form of life-energy. It is the raw material behind biologic existence.

Sex in the West

If you’ve grown up in the West, as I have, then you probably feel a certain way about sex. In fact, merely discussing the matter is considered perverse by some.

We have made sex something very specific in Western culture. For all intents and purposes, sexual energy has been reduced to desire.

Think about it.

We call cars and companies sexy. Why? Because we find them desirable; we want them for ourselves.

This view of sex leads to a mentality of posessiveness, envy, and jealousy. We want this person for ourselves. We want what someone else has. We want to keep what we have to ourselves.

Want.

We are in a perpetual state of want, aren’t we?

We are the proverbial ‘hungry ghosts,’ constantly consuming every lovely thing, but starving to death all the while. It is as if we have a worm inside that will not die. No matter what we consume, it disappears immediately down the worm’s throat, leaving us emaciated, lonely, and exhausted.

This is true of most things in our lives: food, entertainment, and sex. We can never seem to get enough.

It has become a cliche within Western culture that men simply want to roll over and sleep after sex. They’re tired, drained of all their energy.

Why is this?

The Taoist Perspective

In Taoism, life energy takes three forms: jing, qi (or, chi), and shen. For the purposes of this article, we’ll be exploring jing and qi exclusively.

Jing is viewed as a person’s pool of life energy. The amount of jing you possess is said to be fixed at birth and determined by the overall health of your parents. It slowly dwindles over the course of your life.

When jing runs very low, a person will become ill and eventually die as their pool of energy is exhausted.

Qi is energy which is available for use at any time. Energy is transferred from jing to qi as needed. This is one way in which our pool of jing is depleted.

However, we can obtain qi elsewhere. It doesn’t have to come from jing. In fact, the more energy we pull from food and meditative practices, the less we need to tap into our jing. Such practices conserve our pool of life energy.

It is clear that for many men, sex is a huge expenditure of qi. In order to replace this lost energy, massive amounts of jing are required.

Imagine what we could accomplish if we were properly nourished, if we knew how to possess and utilize our life energy, especially our sexual energy, in manifesting our goals.

Sexual Transmutation

The idea of sexual transmutation is ancient. For centuries, yogis have practiced brahmacharya (celibacy) in order to conserve their sexual energy. Tantra may then be used to translate or transmute this energy into purer, or more useful, forms.

The first law of thermodynamics tells us that energy can neither be created no destroyed. However, it can be transferred or transformed. This is exactly what yogis have been doing for thousands of years.

Sexual energy arises within the first and second chakras, known as the root and sacral chakras, respectively. In total, there are seven major chakras, or energy centers, within the human body.

The idea of sexual transmutation is to move sexual energy from the first and second chakras (near the genitals) all the way to the seventh chakra (at the top of the head).

This makes sexual energy available to you in ways other than lust.

Why You Should Do It

With so many people turning to toxic energy drinks, wouldn’t it be great if we could improve our energy levels safely and naturally?

Just think of what you could accomplish with a little (or, a lot!) more energy. Consider the progress you could make toward your goals.

That’s what sexual transmutation is all about.

And the good news is that you don’t have to stop having sex in order to benefit from the practice I’m about to share with you.

Be aware, you might find yourself with fewer sexual thoughts throughout the day and less desire to look at pornography and masturbate. (For me, these were desirable side effects!)

The Technique

There are many techniques available for those who want to transmute their sexual energy (some or all of it).

I’ll be sharing one technique I’ve used with personal success.

NOTE: For best results, do not attempt this practice if you’ve had sex and/or ejaculated within the past 24 hours.

  1. Sit in a comfortable, cross-legged position
  2. Straighten your spine (as much as is comfortable)
  3. Place both hands, palm-side up, on your knees
  4. Raise your chin slightly and close your eyes
  5. Relax and breathe naturally
  6. Focus your mind on the area between your anus and genitals (this is called the perineum)
  7. Become aware of the energy residing there
  8. Imagine opening your spine like a tunnel and allowing this energy to move from your perineum to the top of your head

Continue this practice as long as you desire. Five minutes is a good place to start for beginners.

When you are done, slowly open your eyes.

You should feel comfortably energized after this practice. Sexual thoughts and desires will be reduced. So, it’s time to get stuff done! Use this new-found energy to mark something off your to-do list.

And don’t forget to share this article with a brother who needs it.
